Lloyd & Nancy PeckhamAs members of Wycliffe Bible Translators, from 1979-2009 their emphasis was Bible translation in southeast Asia. They began by living in a remote village, learning the language and training several local men as Bible translators. Lloyd and Nancy lived and worked there for ten years before returning to the U.S. Three years after their return God opened the door for them to move to a different area of southeast Asia with other colleagues working on Bible translation. Throughout this time, Lloyd and other locals continued their work on translating the New Testament. With much celebration they completed the translation in 2004. After a year and a half in southern California, where Lloyd is from, they were asked to go back in July of 2006 to yet another area of southeast Asia, an area in the mountains which was free of some of the diseases that had troubled them in their previous location. There they helped supervise Bible translators from 4 different nearby language groups who worked together in one office. After working there for almost 3 years, they made the decision to return to the U.S. and arrived at the end of April 2009. Nancy wanted to complete her MA in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care at Talbot School of Theology in the Los Angeles area that she began on our furlough in 2005-2006. She recently graduated with her MA and wants to use her skills and training to become involved in missionary care, both at Biola and in their church. Lloyd has several times been invited to teach in the Intercultural Studies Department at Biola University, on the same campus as Talbot. He did that in 2005 and has continued to this day. He is a very popular teacher, teaching language and culture learning, and has been invited to continue there indefinitely. Their current ministry is now focused on training, mobilizing, and enabling of cross-cultural workers. Please Praise God For:- God using both of them on the Biola campus, in their neighborhood, at church and in their family. Pray For:- God's continued work through them on the Biola campus, in their neighborhood, at church and in their family. |
